2008 LIVESCAN:Select for Applicant Appointment

To help ensure the safety of our families, all board members, coaches, managers and chaperones are required to perform a LiveScan from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. The league requires at least one scanned person to be present at all practices and games.

Ace Certification Clinics

This year SSJSB coaches and managers are required to attend a coaching clinic designed to instruct coaches beyond the nuts-and-bolts of softball, such as: how to deal with parents, how to care for injuries, understanding risk management, your legal duties as a coach, how to organize a practice and much more. Click here for more information about the ACE clinic.

If you have taken the ACE certification course previously, you can take the 2nd and 3rd year tests online. Click here for more information.

COACHING EXPECTATIONS:
Since coaching is significant to the success of this league - beginning in January, clinics will be made available to further increase your coaching technique and skills.  One clinic will be dedicated to teaching anyone interested in how to teach pitching & catching.  Another clinic will be on coaching tips, techniques and drills.  Both clinics will be "hands-on" and you will be expected to participate.
SPORTSMANSHIP:
To help foster good sportsmanship - we will institute an unbiased committee of six people, who will be attending games throughout the season as a “Secret Spectator.”  They will be scoring your team on specific areas that cover interaction between players, coaching staff, parents and umpires.  At the end of the year the points will be tallied and one team from each division will be recognized at Closing Day with custom-made pins as awards.

As a Manager/Coach/Parent, your responsibility is to provide an atmosphere where negative sportsmanship is unacceptable.  Please work with our league to teach our girls what it means to be a true team player and for tips on how to foster this environment - please click the Positive Coaching Alliance link in the toolbar on the left.
